1.Searching For The Young Soul Rebels - probably my favourite, if only for 'Burn It Down' and 'Keep It' 2.interim period where they did a few 7"s/different lineup - The Projected Passion Revue compilation collates all that 3.Too-Rye-Ay - COME ON EILEEN DA DA DA DA DA 4.Don't Stand Me Down - semi-weird album with really long songs.
My Beauty had a brilliant and thematically important cover of Thunder Road lopped off. The rest of it is peculiar but pretty decent, like a therapy session performed through syrupy karaoke. 'The Greatest Love of All' is awesome.
Anyway, Searching>Stand>Rye. Live DVD from a few years ago is good for Kevin's banter.
I've only just worked out how to sign up to the blog posting and I've been thinking carefully about this since March 23rd and it is has to be SEARCHING..it is number 1 fo'sho. Has anyone listened to the song on Kevin Rowland myspace?
I've only got Searching For The Young Soul Rebels, but I love that. Is that one of...three eras?
ReplyDeleteThere are *kinda* four

For the sake of indie discos I have to go with Dexy's Midnight Runners.
ReplyDeletePlus it feels less like and album and more like a greatest hits compilation
searching for the young soul rebels. how can you even ask, its like, the manics meets the commitments....in birmingham.
ReplyDeletei think, the best album ever to come from our city. apart from the starries...

Do you actually rate My Beauty?! (also, not actually Dexy's is it). Also, have you heard The Projected Passion Revue compilation?
ReplyDeleteDuncan - there isn't a Dexy's S/T as far as I know?!
